Role: Senior Buyer

Due to continued growth of the business we have a permanent opportunity for a high caliber candidate in this broad and varied role encompassing all aspects of Purchasing. This is an excellent opportunity to join a rapidly growing and progressive organisation at an exciting time. The role will lead all purchasing within an extremely busy manufacturing business.

Reporting to: Manufacturing Support Manager

Required to:

  • Review and analyse spend on all standard materials, products and services and identify and deliver measurable savings through negotiation with new and existing suppliers
  • Plan the arrival of materials to meet sales and production demands
  • Lead, coach and further develop a team of staff to deliver affordable quality and continuous improvement
  • Control and management of:
  • Sourcing and pricing of materials, products and services and development of supplier partnerships
  • Planning, organising and monitoring of workload to ensure deadlines are met
  • Liaison with suppliers to ensure quality supply
  • Placement, acknowledgment and progression of orders
  • Entry of purchase requisitions and goods received onto system
  • Supplier Engagement and Assessment Policy and appraisal
  • Rejected material and return of goods
  • Resolution of invoicing queries
  • Continuous development and monitoring of KPIs
  • Extraction, manipulation and reporting of purchasing data
  • Staff equipment register
  • All records pertaining to the above

Required attributes and skills:

  • Excellent communication skills at all levels through all media
  • Organised with the ability to work to tight deadlines, with a high level of accuracy and under own initiative
  • Able to take ownership of tasks through to resolution
  • Able to manage, mentor and guide others
  • Minimum of 3 years’ proven experience of high volume purchasing in an engineering environment with familiarity of product and material specifications
  • Willingness to go above and beyond in busy project periods
  • CIPS qualification or working towards

Hours/Benefits:

  • 8.30am – 5pm, 40 hours per week Mon-Fri
  • 28 days holiday (incl. Bank Holidays of which 3 must be taken at the Christmas shutdown)
  • Company Pension Scheme (eligible after a qualifying period)
  • Sick pay (eligible after a qualifying period)
  • Accident/Life Insurance (eligible after a qualifying period)

Role: HR & Payroll Advisor

We have a permanent opportunity for a high caliber candidate to support the HR/Finance Team in a role encompassing all aspects of Human Resources and Payroll. This is an excellent opportunity to join a rapidly growing and progressive organisation at an exciting time.

Reporting to: HR Director

As HR & Payroll Advisor your duties will include:

  • Supporting the HR Director in the provision of a comprehensive and effective HR service for the business
  • Processing contractual changes, related calculations, and preparing the paperwork to support
  • Writing and updating Company policies in line with current law changes
  • Maintaining the HR system with all relevant changes including monitoring probationary periods, fixed term contracts and onsite agency labour
  • Preparing, checking, and running the payroll process monthly using Sage including the administering of overtime calculations and pension auto enrolment
  • Administering all holiday and absence and developing the digital absence/HR system
  • Dealing with first level enquiries from employees by phone, email and in person regarding general HR, payroll and benefits
  • Administering digital employee records to ensure compliance with GDPR legislation
  • Managing maternity, paternity, parental and shared parental leave process and communicating with employees
  • Processing new joiners and leavers
  • Preparing correspondence on general HR matters such as exit interviews, return to work meetings, performance meetings
  • Owning the internal business communication – briefing notes and company newsletters
  • Producing reports and management information from the HR database and other sources
  • Taking notes at confidential meetings and producing timely minutes as required

What we need

  • Proven and significant experience in a similar HR and Payroll Advisor role, supporting high quality HR activities ideally within a confidential professional environment
  • Sound knowledge of HR practices and employment law
  • Excellent communication skills, particularly written/grammatical ability
  • Experience of the full HR cycle from recruitment through to exit interviews
  • Strong IT skills essential, good knowledge of Excel formulas
  • Confident with numbers and complex calculations
  • Accurate and efficient worker with an eye for detail
  • Proven experience of administering the complete and varied payroll process, including complex calculations and resolving queries
  • Highly organised, with excellent planning and administration skills, experience of working to deadlines, juggling workload and priorities
  • Able to demonstrate excellent examples of adaptability, initiative, and ownership
  • Great communicator and able to develop effective working relationships within the HR team and with key stakeholders
  • Good team worker and able to work effectively in a dynamic business and team environment
  • Graduate with CIPD or CIPP membership would be an advantage
